Released on November 14 amid unprecedented hype and expectations, Kollywood star Suriya’s ambitious action-fantasy drama, Kanguva, ended up being a colossal disaster at the box office. The Siva directorial was panned by critics and movie lovers for the lack of emotional quotient and other technical shortcomings.
Despite the poor performance at the box office, there has been a huge buzz for Kanguva’s OTT release for the past few days. The high-budget entertainer finally made its digital premiere on the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video last night. Interestingly, keeping the negative feedback in mind, the makers have trimmed Kanguva by 12 minutes for its digital premiere. Whether or not the shortened version manages to win appreciation will be known in a few days.
Bollywood stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani played lead roles in Kanguva, while Suriya was seen in a dual role in this Studio Green and UV Creations joint production. Devi Sri Prasad is the film’s music composer.
