Leo, the most recent Kollywood movie to hit theaters, has generated a mixed response from both audiences and critics. This film stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role and is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, with Trisha Krishnan playing the female lead.
Last night, the movie’s creators released the ‘Ordinary Person’ track from Leo, which fans of Vijay had eagerly anticipated after seeing the film in cinemas. However, music enthusiasts have accused the renowned composer Anirudh of plagiarism. To provide some context, the tune used in Ordinary Person resembles a track titled ‘Where Are You (2020),’ composed by Otnicka, a musician based in Belarus.
Numerous people flocked to YouTube to express their belief that the track had been copied for use in Leo. This development caught Otnicka’s attention, and he asked, ” Are you saying someone used this track in the movie without my permission? I have no knowledge of this.” He also added, “The label does not hold the copyright and cannot issue a license without the artist’s consent. No one from the team or the production contacted me.”
Anirudh’s actions have disappointed many fans, as they feel he should have acknowledged the original composer. For those not in the know, Anirudh slightly modified a track from ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’ for the ‘Badass’ song in Leo. We’ll have to await Anirudh’s response to these comments. Stay tuned for further updates.
