Don’t call yourself a movie buff or cinema lover if you have not watched Stepher Spielberg’s Jaws that was released 50 years ago and made around $470 million globally during those days. The blockbuster Hollywood thriller returns to big screens overseas exclusively in IMAX format but Indians were betrayed once again.

Initially IMAX India announced the release of Jaws (see the image below), marking its 50th anniversary on August 29, 2025, but they pulled down the promotion later, clarifying that the movie is not releasing in India.

Moviegoers are unhappy with the decision but anguish over allocating IMAX screens for Janhvi Kapoor’s new movie Param Sundari (released today) that is not meant for the premium format. This made moviegoers across many cities in India take to social media and question IMAX India, which they didn’t clarify anything about.

Cinema lovers are deeply regretted for not having a chance to watch Jaws in the large format despite having so many IMAX screens in India. We have to see if the IMAX Corp will come up with any satisfactory answer.
