OTT Twist: Hari Hara Veera Mallu Streams on Prime Video with a Different Climax and Trimmed Scenes

Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s first pan-Indian movie Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit has failed with critics and audiences alike. Krishna Jagarlamudi initially directed the film, which was later completed by AM Jyothi Krishna.

Amazon Prime Video has now opened the floodgates, streaming the movie in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. The theatrical-to-OTT window gap is just 4 weeks, cutting to the chase for home viewers.

Interestingly, the OTT version has been trimmed to the bone for a smoother experience. Following audience backlash over VFX in the horse-riding sequences and Pawan Kalyan’s arrow-aiming scenes in the second half, these moments were taken down a notch and new prints were rolled out in theaters. Originally, the movie ended with Bobby Deol saying, “Aandhi Vachesindhi,” but their confrontation during the cyclone was wiped off the map.

On OTT, this portion has been completely scrapped, and the movie now concludes after the Asura Hananam song with the Part 2 announcement. There’s no interaction with Bobby Deol, and the cyclone fight is missing. Overall, around 15 minutes were cut for OTT, while horse-riding sequences and VFX were polished to a shine.

Day-one theater viewers will notice the changes at every turn in the OTT version. These adjustments were made to deliver a fine-tuned experience for home audiences. It remains to be seen how this new version with a different climax will hold water with viewers. Notably, Hari Hara Veera Mallu has seen three different endings, and the current OTT runtime is 2 hours and 33 minutes.

The cast includes Nidhhi Agerwal, Sunil, Raghu Babu, Sachin Khedekar, Vennela Kishore, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Kota Srinivasa Rao (in his final film). The movie is presented by AM Rathnam, produced by A Dayakar Rao, with music composed by MM Keeravaani.
