Romantic youth entertainer Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, is hitting the big screens on February 21. The film, directed by Oh My Kadavule fame Ashwath Marimuthu, stars Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar as the female leads. The theatrical trailer was dropped yesterday, and within no time, it attracted trolls since many felt Dragon was similar to Sivakarthikeyan’s blockbuster Don.

Aspects like protagonist’s carefree attitude, the college setting, the heroine track, and the struggles undergone by the hero’s parents had a striking resemblance with the Sivakarthikeyan starrer. In a recent interview, Ashwath reacted to social media trolls. He said, “Just like you, I too saw Don two years ago. People praised me for Oh My Kadavule. Pradeep has delivered a 100-crore film already. So what made you think I will make Don again?

Ashwath Marimuthu added, “There is integrity regarding the kind of films I want to make. Don is about a person who roams freely in college but ultimately achieves success. Dragon’s story is entirely different. We have purposefully hidden a big surprise, as we want the audience to enjoy it in theatres.”

“People who are trolling me will change their opinion once the film is released. There will be new elements in Dragon. I always want to offer new experience to the audience. Also, my film with Simbu will be unique,” noted Ashwath Marimuthu. Dragon will have a simultaneous release in Telugu as “Return of the Dragon.”
