Tollywood strike: Producers not keen on hiking employees’ salaries

The Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Federation has called for a strike starting today, abruptly halting the shoots of several projects. The decision stems from a long-standing demand which is to approve a 30% hike in employees’ salaries. Numerous films, ranging from high-budget to low-budget productions, are already feeling the impact.
To address the issue, the Producers Council held a meeting at the Film Chamber. No decision has been made yet, but producers are reportedly not keen on increasing salaries. Since the strike falls under the purview of the Labor Commission, producers are unhappy with the Federation’s unilateral decision to halt shoots.

At 4 PM today, representatives from the Film Chamber of Commerce and the Employees’ Federation will meet with the Labor Commission to discuss the matter. It remains to be seen whether this meeting will yield fruitful results for all parties involved.
