A few days ago, Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas’ highly anticipated film Spirit was officially launched in Hyderabad, with Chiranjeevi attending as the chief guest. Soon after, speculation began to float around that Ranbir Kapoor might turn up in a cameo role, given the project’s narrative links to the Animal universe.
Meanwhile, Netflix rolled out its new reality special Dining With the Kapoors, in which members of the Kapoor family sit down for an intimate meal while sharing memories, anecdotes, and reflections on Raj Kapoor’s legacy. The show itself did not pick up major traction, but a fresh controversy has broken out around it.
A Reddit user claimed that Ranbir Kapoor is shown eating, or at least seated near, meat-based dishes during the special. The debate is not centred on the food itself but on the perceived contradiction between this footage and earlier statements made by Ranbir and his PR team. Previously, his PR had publicly stated that Ranbir had given up meat entirely as part of his preparation to play Lord Sri Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana. This claim had been put out repeatedly in interviews and PR-oriented reports.
According to the Reddit allegation, almost all dishes served in the Netflix special appear to be non-vegetarian, with no visible vegetarian alternatives on the table. Although there is no direct footage of Ranbir actually consuming meat, the mere presence of the dishes has led a section of viewers to accuse the actor’s PR team of backing up a misleading narrative.
This perceived inconsistency has set off anger online, especially among viewers who expect the actor’s off-screen behaviour to align with the cultural and spiritual sensitivity of his upcoming role. Social media discussions have continued to build up, with users calling on Ranbir to come out with a clarification. As of now, there has been no official response.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently immersed in the shooting of Ramayana, which is slated for a Diwali 2026 release. Early industry chatter suggests that the sequel may not roll out in 2027, though the team has not confirmed any timeline.
