PVR-INOX’s ban on Manjummel Boys’ Telugu version spurs distributor backlash

It is widely reported that the renowned PVR-INOX multiplex chain has halted the screening of both new and existing Malayalam movies in Kerala. This decision comes amid a dispute with the Kerala Films Producers Association (KFPA) over content-sharing agreements.

The ban on Malayalam movies at PVR-INOX screens in Kerala has had ripple effects, impacting screenings of the Telugu version of Manjummel Boys in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The multiplex chain’s unexpected action has elicited strong criticism from Sasidhar Reddy of Mythri Movie Distributors LLP, the film’s Telugu presenter.

Manjummel Boys has been performing exceptionally well at the box office in the Telugu-speaking states. Consequently, removing the film from PVR-INOX multiplexes without prior notice has sparked backlash from the distributor and audiences.

Sasidhar stated that he has briefed the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce about the situation, prompting the association to convene an emergency meeting to address the behavior of PVR-INOX. Further updates on the matter are expected soon.
