Latest: Vijayakanth’s last rites to be performed with full state honours

It is a sad day for Vijayakanth’s fans and the entire Kollywood industry, as the veteran actor and politician passed away at 71 due to COVID-19 at MIOT International Hospital in Chennai.

The news of his passing has cast a pall over the entire film industry, prompting the Tamil Nadu Exhibitors Association to officially declare the cancellation of all morning shows across the state as a mark of respect to the ‘Captain.’

Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced that the final rituals for Vijayakanth will be conducted with full state honours. The actor’s mortal remains currently lie at his residence in Saligramam, Chennai, where fans have gathered to catch a last glimpse of their beloved star.
