Amid high expectations and positive buzz, National Award-winning Tamil star Dhanush’s pan-India socio-political thriller, Kuberaa, was released in cinemas worldwide yesterday (June 20). Also starring Tollywood star Nagarjuna and young actress Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, the Shekar Kammula directorial went on to win the hearts of audiences and critics.
The encouraging word of mouth for Kuberaa is reflected in its box office collection. As per the latest updates from trade circles, Kuberaa collected a solid Rs 2.70 crore share (incl GST) at the box offices across the Nizam region. This is a new record for any Dhanush-starrer in Nizam. Incidentally, Dhanush’s first straight Telugu movie, SIR, collected about Rs 2.64 crore share in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Kuberaa’s Nizam day 1 collection only reiterates his growing popularity in the region.
Worldwide, Kuberaa is expected to have collected over Rs 16 crore on its opening day. The film grossed over $500K from its premiere shows in North America, where it is all set to enter the $1M mark. Stay tuned for more updates on the film’s box office collection.
