Acclaimed Tollywood filmmaker Sekhar Kammula’s highly anticipated socio-political thriller, Kuberaa, is gearing up for its world theatrical release in a few hours. The film features Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, and its recently released trailer hinted that Shekar has pushed himself out of his comfort zone and tried something very different from what he has done in the past.
And Shekar assures that Kuberaa will surely offer a never-before-seen experience to the audience in cinemas on June 20. “I’m quite happy for narrating a story like Kuberaa. Audiences wouldn’t have seen anything like this to date. Kuberaa’s billionaire versus beggar storyline fascinated me a lot. The film will make the society aware of the rich and poor worlds that exist around us,” said the soft-spoken director.
Talking about his lead actors, Shekar said he was very particular about casting Nagarjuna, as the seasoned actor would perfectly bring out the various shades of his character. Rashmika will surely surprise everyone. She is someone who, if given a strong character, will come up with a next-level performance,” he added.
Talking about the film’s main lead, Dhanush, Shekar said that no one else but only Dhanush could do justice to the character. “His performance is fabulous. Even audiences can’t imagine anyone else but Dhanush in the role. The most amazing aspect of Dhanush’s craft is that he continues to be in the character till the shooting is finished,” Shekar said.
Calling the film’s music composer Devi Sri Prasad King, Shekar said that DSP has given a riveting background score that elevated the film in several scenes. Shekar also thanked his producers, Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, for backing his vision with grand production values. The award-winning director also had a few nice things to say about Bollywood actor Jim Sarbh. “Jim comes to the set well-prepared, and he delivered all his Telugu lines with perfection. He’ll surely get more offers in Tollywood after Kuberaa.”
Reminiscing about his 25-year journey in movies, Shekar said audiences have given him so much love and respect and that he always strived to meet their expectations by making movies with utmost honesty. Shekhar concluded his interaction, saying that he has a storyline for Leader’s sequel and that it might take some more time. He also revealed that plans are on to collaborate with Nani, but even that project will not materialize any time soon.
