When the popular Korean survival thriller series Squid Game was first released on Netflix, it became a global sensation, becoming the platform’s first series to cross 100 million views in just 11 days. After three years, the second season premiered in late 2024. However, it couldn’t recreate the magic of the first and received a mixed response from critics and audiences alike.
Now, the stage is set for the grand finale. Squid Game Season 3 is scheduled to release globally this Friday (June 27, 2025), but surprisingly, there is very little buzz surrounding it.
The lukewarm reception to Season 2 has dampened excitement for Season 3. While the dedicated fanbase is still eager, the overall hype is nowhere close to what it was for the original. It remains to be seen whether Season 3 will bring back the excitement of Season 1 or turn out to be a disappointment.
Created and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Korean survival thriller stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Oh Young-soo, and others in key roles. Will Squid Game Season 3 make a strong comeback? Let’s wait and watch.
