A few months back, when the ceasefire showdown between Dunki and Salaar was confirmed, concerns arose for the DC superhero film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, featuring Jason Momoa in the title role. As anticipated, the movie faced challenges at the Indian box office amid the intense competition between Dunki and Salaar.

The second installment in the Aquaman franchise and the final one in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), released last Thursday, ultimately proved to be a disappointment both domestically and internationally. Criticism for its weak storyline and screenplay plagued the film, causing it to struggle to make a lasting impact. In India, its box office collection reportedly remained below Rs. 20 crores.

While the first part of Aquaman enjoyed success, the sequel failed to sustain the initial excitement, especially in the midst of the rivalry with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar.

The James Wan-directed Aquaman 2 faced significant challenges at the Indian box office compared to its home market. In contrast, Salaar and Dunki continue to thrive at the box office, effectively engaging their respective target audiences.
