The much-awaited Kannada film Kantara Chapter 1 is back in the news, this time for its strong business prospects in the Telugu-speaking regions. The movie is set to release in theaters on October 2, 2025, across multiple languages, and has already drawn attention with a significant rights deal.
The Telugu states’ rights for Kantara Chapter 1 are reportedly sold for around Rs. 100 crore, a figure comparable to big-budget films starring top Telugu actors.
Sources suggest the distribution rights are divided region-wise as follows:
Nizam: ~Rs. 40 crore
Coastal Andhra: ~Rs. 45 crore
Ceded: ~Rs. 15 crore
With anticipation running high, Kantara Chapter 1 could reward distributors if it matches the success of its first installment. Solid audience response and positive reviews may drive it to become a major box-office hit.
The film stars Rukmini Vasanth in the lead and is produced by Hombale Films, with music composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. The movie will also be released in Bengali, allowing it to reach a wider audience.
