Shankar is among the very few directors in the country who has aced the art of delivering solid commercial entertainers blended with social issues. The filmmaker enjoys a humongous following in Telugu states, and his reputation here is no less than that of a Tamil star hero. The director is now coming up with Bharateeyudu 2 (Indian 2 in Tamil), the sequel to the 1996 superhit Bharateeyudu.

The team has promoted the film well, but compared to Shankar’s previous outings, the buzz is not so great in Telugu. There was a significant delay in the commencement of advance bookings, which caused frustration among the audience. The latest update reveals that Bharateeyudu 2 was granted a hike of Rs. 75 in multiplexes and Rs. 50 in single screens in Telangana. The hikes will be applicable for a period of one week starting from July 12.

This move has come as a shocker to netizens who are expressing their disappointment openly. A few are commenting that these ticket rate hikes are doing more harm than good for the industry by killing the footfalls. A user commented that the ticket price of Bharateeyudu 2 is higher in Telangana compared to Tamil Nadu.

Even if the movie receives good word of mouth, it might lose a section of the audience due to the premium pricing. If the reports aren’t favorable, then the ticket rate hike might cause more damage. Let’s see how this vigilante action thriller, headlined by Kamal Haasan, fares.
