Leading Kollywood production house Lyca Productions has been going through several hardships, with most of its high-budget movies failing to set the cash registers ringing. However, despite a financial crunch, Lyca’s latest announcement of bankrolling as many as nine projects in the next three years has left everyone surprised.
At the ongoing WAVES 2025 summit in Mumbai, Lyca Productions’ Allirajah Subaskaran and Mahaveer Jain announced their massive collaboration. This strategic partnership aligns with the WAVES initiative to establish India as a worldwide content creation hub. Some of these projects are expected to feature Tamil stalwarts Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
Lyca Productions is well known for bankrolling mega budget spectacles such as Rajini’s 2.0, Kamal’s Indian 2, and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan I & II. On the other hand, Mahaveer Jain Films backed Uunchai with Rajshri Productions and recently collaborated with Karan Johar for NaagZilla, an international thriller with Siddharth Anand featuring Vikrant Massey as Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a rooted friendship film with Imtiaz Ali, and a biopic on Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand.
