Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty hospitalized in Kolkata

Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty (73) has been admitted to the Emergency ward at Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata. Mithun Da reportedly complained of severe chest pain and acute uneasiness while shooting for a TV show in his hometown Kolkata on Saturday morning. Studio staff immediately rushed him to the hospital at around 10:30 am today.

The spokesperson of Apollo Hospital has informed the media that Mithun Chakraborty is undergoing medical evaluation. “The reports of the MRI are awaited. He is currently in the ITU under the supervision of a neuromedicine specialist. We will be able to provide further details later,” the spokesperson added.

In a career spanning nearly 5 decades, Mithun has acted in over 350 movies in multiple languages. He also forayed into active politics and is currently a member of the BJP. He was recently honored with India’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, by the Indian government. “Bohot khushi, bohot anand, sab kuch mila ke ek aisi feeling hai jo main bayaan nahi kar sakta. Bohot takleefo ke baad jab itna bada sammaan milta hai toh uski feeling hi kuch aur hoti hai,” Mithun said, after his Padma announcement.
