Lata Mangeshkar, the nightingale of India, has been awarded the prestigious PB Srinivas Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for her valuable contribution towards playback singing. The PB Srinivas Memorial Award has been constituted by PB Srinivas’s family and the Kalasudha Trust to honour the luminaries from the world of music.
The award has been presented to Lata Mangeshkar by another legendary playback singer, SP Balasubramaniam at her residence in Mumbai. Incidentally, PB Srinivas was the first Telugu singer to sing with Lata Mangeshkar. On this occasion, Lata Mangeshkar recollected her association with PB Srinivas and expressed her happiness on being honoured with the award.
