Kurukshetra

The Mahabharata is an epic like no other – its scale, characters, and moral dilemmas make it the greatest story ever told. More than mythology, it is a mirror of life, filled with lessons that remain relevant even today. Over centuries, it has been retold in countless ways, and now Netflix India is set to reimagine it for a new generation with its first-ever mythological series, Kurukshetra.

Netflix has planned the show as a two-part saga, each with nine episodes. The first season premieres on October 10, 2025. According to the streamer, the story unfolds through the perspectives of 18 warriors, each torn between duty, loyalty, revenge, and the heavy price of a war that turned brothers into enemies.

The series is created by Anu Sikka, who also produces it along with Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under the Tipping Point banner. Kurukshetra is written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly, with legendary lyricist Gulzar penning the verses.

“The battle of Kurukshetra is unforgettable and timeless – a clash of duty, destiny, and moral choices,” says creator Anu Sikka. “Through this animated series, we explore those 18 days with distinct perspectives, blending eternal wisdom with the power of visual storytelling. We are honoured to bring this layered narrative to Netflix, making it accessible to audiences in India and around the world.”

Audiences are eager to see how this timeless epic will be retold on such a grand scale, and how its legendary characters will be brought to life through modern storytelling and cutting-edge visuals.
