Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, the actress’s much-talked-about wedding documentary, is once again making headlines, this time for legal trouble.

On July 8, 2025, the Madras High Court issued notices to Netflix and Tarc Studios after a copyright infringement petition was filed by AP International, the producers of Chandramukhi.

They allege that the documentary used behind-the-scenes footage from the 2005 Rajinikanth-starrer without permission, despite prior legal warnings and a demand for Rs. 5 crore in compensation. The court has given the parties two weeks to respond.

This is not the only legal hurdle the documentary faces. Earlier, Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films filed a separate case claiming a three-second clip from his 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was used without approval. That petition also names Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan and their company Rowdy Pictures, seeking Rs. 10 crore in damages.

With two copyright disputes unfolding, the documentary’s spotlight has shifted from celebration to courtroom scrutiny.
