Mollywood’s legendary actor Mohanlal made a strong statement in 2025 that he owns the box office like nobody else does. With Empuraan and Thudarum, he delivered two of the biggest blockbusters, both of which collected over Rs. 200 crores gross globally.
With Hridayapoorvam, the senior actor once again displayed his unmatched crowd-pulling capacity. The family drama raked in over Rs. 8 crores gross worldwide, and it is the third biggest opener of Malayalam cinema in 2025, only behind Mohanlal’s very own Empuraan and Thudarum. In Kerala, the movie collected over Rs. 3.2 crores gross, despite arriving in competition.
Hridayapoorvam’s reports are promising, but it will be interesting to see how the Mohanlal starrer performs from hereon since Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah has received ultra-positive reviews and word of mouth. Nonetheless, Mohanlal has single-handedly given a huge push to the Mollywood box office this calendar year with consecutive hits.
