Dhanush and Sekhar Kammula’s social drama Kuberaa received solid reviews from critics and posted impressive numbers over the weekend. However, it is to be noted that only the Telugu version is performing well at the ticket windows.
Despite Dhanush being a big hero in Kollywood, the performance of Kuberaa’s Tamil version is way below expectations. According to trade reports, the movie earned approximately Rs. 13 crores gross in Tamil Nadu in the first weekend. This is highly underwhelming considering the encouraging reports the film received.
On the first Monday, Kuberaa displayed a fantastic hold in Telugu states and the USA, but the weekday trend is worrisome in Tamil Nadu. Going forward, the Telugu version will help the Dhanush starrer post a good total, but the Tamil version’s underperformance will stop the movie from reaching its full potential.
