The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held in Goa from November 20-28, 2025, and this year the organisers have planned a special moment.
Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna will be honoured for completing 50 years in films. This was confirmed by Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, who said the felicitation is set for the closing ceremony on November 28, 2025.
Rajinikanth’s first film, Apoorva Raagangal, came out in 1975. Balakrishna started even earlier, appearing as a child actor in Tatamma Kala in 1974. Both actors have stayed active and relevant through different phases of Tamil and Telugu cinema.
IFFI wants to acknowledge their long run and the kind of influence they’ve had over the years. More details about the programme will come out as the festival gets closer.
