The title launch of SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi (SSMB29) at RFC, Hyderabad, turned into one of those rare events where the entry moment overshadowed the actual title reveal.
The glimpse was impressive, but Mahesh Babu arriving on a bull became the real highlight. It was bold and completely unexpected from someone who usually keeps things low-key at public appearances. He even mentioned on stage that Rajamouli was the one who convinced him to try it. This is becoming a trend in Tollywood.
Pawan Kalyan, who is usually quiet at events, made his entry in a full retro look with a katana in hand for the They Call Him OG trailer launch. Sujeeth was the one who pushed him to do it, and that single moment transformed Pawan’s entire energy. Fans saw a different version of him that night.
Before that, Prabhas appeared at the Kalki 2898 AD event in RFC as Bhairava and rode Bujji. This was another example of a superstar stepping out of his comfort zone, and the audience absolutely enjoyed it.
Directors are clearly encouraging their stars to break the usual promotional tone and try something fresh. These moments feel more cinematic and far more exciting for fans who rarely get to see their heroes like this.
So first Nag Ashwin, next Sujeeth and now Rajamouli. This approach is working really well. The only question left is who will surprise the audience next. Let us wait and see.
