Kollywood star director Vetrimaaran was supposed to make a film titled Vaadivaasal with Suriya. The movie, based on the Jallikattu sport, has been facing continuous delays due to multiple reasons. As a result, Vetrimaaran has set Vaadivaasal aside and announced a new project with Simbu.

According to the latest speculations in Tamil film circles, emerging actor Manikandan is set to play a pivotal role in Simbu and Vetrimaaran’s film, tentatively titled STR49. Manikandan has been carving a niche for himself with his impressive script choices, and if he comes on board, it will be a major boost to his career.

It has already been revealed that the movie will be set in the Vada Chennai universe. Manikandan is reportedly playing a character that connects STR49 and Vada Chennai. However, Vetrimaaran clarified that Simbu’s film will not be titled Vada Chennai 2, despite the connection. The filmmaker plans to complete this film quickly before returning to Vaadivaasal.
