Renowned filmmaker Prem Kumar, known for the cult classic 96, made strong remarks at the Indian Screenwriters Conclave.
He stated that Tamil cinema is increasingly affected by biased and agenda-driven reviews. Prem said that while not all reviewers are at fault, many intentionally aim to hurt a film’s first-week collections.
He also expressed concern that even genuine critics cannot often review films fairly. His comments have sparked a debate in the industry, raising questions about the credibility and influence of film criticism.
“Tamil Cinema is facing a big problem with Negative reviews. Not everyone, but many reviewers are doing with an agenda to pull the film down & target the first week collection. Even honest reviewers don’t have capacity to review a film”
