The upcoming historical action adventure Hari Hara Veera Mallu, starring Pawan Kalyan, is making headlines not just for its scale and star power but also for a growing controversy ahead of its July 24, 2025 release. Directed by Jyothi Krisna, this pan-Indian film is now at the center of a sensitive debate about representation and historical respect.
Several Backward Classes (BC) associations and Mudhiraj community groups in Telangana have raised objections, claiming that the film distorts the legacy of Panduga Sayanna, a respected folk hero known for helping the poor and standing up for marginalised communities.
According to the groups, the lead character Veera Mallu appears to be based on Sayanna, yet the film does not acknowledge this connection. They feel this omission overlooks an important part of Bahujan and BC history and disrespects their identity.
Leaders from these communities are urging the filmmakers to respond. Some have called for a clear explanation of the character’s origin, while others have asked for changes to the film itself.
A few groups have even warned they may protest or block the release if their concerns are not addressed. So far, the makers of Hari Hara Veera Mallu have not issued an official statement, but many are watching closely to see how the situation unfolds.
