Vicky Kaushal’s biggest hit, Chhaava, crossed Rs. 500 crores nett at the Indian box office and is still going super strong. The movie, directed by Laxman Utekar, is based on Sambhaji Maharaj’s life. Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna played key roles. Ever since the Hindi version was released, there has been a growing demand from the Telugu audiences for the dubbed version.

Finally, Chhaava’s Telugu version opened in cinemas yesterday with moderate promotions. Geetha Arts presented this historical blockbuster in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. According to trade reports Chhaava’s Telugu version earned Rs. 3 crores gross on day one. This can be termed as a good start for various reasons.

The dubbed version should have ideally been released when the Hindi version was going bonkers. After three weeks, any film will start facing significant drops, and the situation isn’t any different for Chhaava. Hence, the excitement was somewhat less for the Telugu version than what it was a few days ago.

Also, the re-release of Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh’s Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu dented Chhaava’s collections to some extent. The collections might once again take a toll tomorrow due to the Champions Trophy finals between India and New Zealand. However, given the excellent word of mouth, Chhaava is expected to make up for the lost ground in the long run.
