The latest Bollywood comedy-drama, Housefull 5, headlined by Akshay Kumar, has opened on a solid note at the box office. In its first weekend, the movie collected over Rs. 90 crores nett, the highest for a Akshay starrer post-pandemic.
Since it’s a franchise film, good numbers were expected over the weekend. However, it is the Monday hold that ultimately decides a film’s overall range. The latest update is that Housefull 5 has posted an impressive Rs. 13.15 crores nett on the make-or-break Monday, which takes the total collections over Rs. 100 crores nett in India.
The weekday hold is a clear indicator that the movie has found acceptance among the audience despite mixed reviews. Today, Housefull 5 is expected to post strong numbers once again capitalizing on the discounted ticket prices as part of the “Blockbuster Tuesdays” initiative. The film is also doing superb business in international markets.
The total overseas collections till now have surpassed the $4 million mark. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Johny Lever, Nana Patekar, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Fardeen Khan in pivotal roles.
