This Friday (September 5, 2025) brings an exciting lineup of films to theaters. From the highly anticipated Ghaati starring Anushka Shetty to the Telugu-dubbed Tamil film Madharaasi, and the Gen Z-targeted Telugu film Little Hearts, there is something for every audience. Here’s a closer look:

Ghaati

Ghaati reunites Anushka Shetty with director Krish Jagarlamudi after Vedam. Fans are eager to see Sweety in a role unlike anything she has done before, and the film could reinforce her title as the “Tollywood Queen.” The movie also marks the Telugu debut of Vikram Prabhu, making its success important for him as well.

Madharaasi

This Tamil action-packed film has generated high expectations with its trailer and music. Sivakarthikeyan leads the cast, with Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead. For director AR Murugadoss, whose recent projects received little acclaim, the film is a key opportunity to showcase his potential as a writer and director. Releasing in multiple languages, Madharaasi aims to appeal to a wide audience.

The Conjuring: Last Rites

The ninth and final installment in The Conjuring Universe, this Michael Chaves-directed horror film stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. In India, pre-sales are impressive, with paid premieres planned, reflecting the franchise’s strong fan following. The film may attract additional attention if Ghaati or Madharaasi underperform.

Little Hearts

This small-budget Telugu youth comedy-drama stars YouTuber Mouli and Shivani Nagaram. The film has generated positive buzz, and strong reviews could make it a favorite among young audiences.

Baaghi 4

Tiger Shroff returns with the fourth installment of the popular action franchise Baaghi. Directed by A Harsha, the film also features Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, audiences expect high-octane action and thrilling sequences. The buzz is little and it remains to be seen how it will fare at the box office.

Bad Girl

Starring Anjali Sivaraman, Bad Girl releases in India after facing controversies. Directed by Varsha Bharath and backed by Vetri Maaran and Anurag Kashyap, this Tamil film is competing with Madharaasi. Although it currently has limited attention, strong content and word-of-mouth could help it find its audience.

The Bengal Files

Vivek Agnihotri’s Hindi political drama finally hits theaters, exploring the 1946 Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Simrat Kaur. Its success will largely depend on audience reactions and word-of-mouth.
