Rishab Shetty’s period action drama Kantara: Chapter 1 has emerged as the all-time second-highest-grossing film in Sandalwood. Also, Risbah Shetty’s directorial is the biggest grosser of Indian cinema in 2025, overtaking Chhaava.
In a few hours, the film will make its OTT debut, and the latest update reveals that Kantara 1 has now breached the massive Rs. 250 crore gross mark at the Karnataka box office. No other film has even crossed Rs. 200 crores in this territory, and this much hyped prequel continues to rule the roost in its home turf.
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, the big-ticket entertainer stars Rukmini Vasanth as the leading lady. Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram played vital roles. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the tunes. Globally, Kantara: Chapter 1 collected over Rs. 800 crores gross.
