The Hindi web show Asur, headlined by Arshad Warsi, is one of the top-rated shows in India. So far, two seasons have been released, and both have registered a stupendous viewership and solid acclaim. According to an exclusive report in Peeping Moon, Jio Hotstar has officially renewed Asur for a third season.
The report mentioned, “Gaurav Shukla, the creator and writer of the series, has been meticulously crafting the new season for the past two years and recently received the go-ahead from the platform. The makers are targeting to commence production by the end of this year, with plans to premiere it in late 2026.”
The report further suggests that a new director might helm the show. Oni Sen, who directed the first two seasons, is said to be directing a high-profile Netflix project, which is expected to keep him engaged throughout the year. Hence, the makers are reportedly looking for a new director.
The series follows a team of forensic specialists entangled in a tense battle of brains with a serial killer who believes himself to be the reincarnation of the mythological demon Kali. Seamlessly weaving mythology with psychological intrigue, the show earned acclaim for its interesting plot, gripping narration, and thought-provoking themes. Barun Sobti, Anupriya Goenka, Ridhi Dogra, Sharib Hashmi, and Amey Wagh played key roles.
