The Raja Saab is a crucial project for director Maruthi. It is the most expensive film of his career, and Prabhas fans have strong expectations for a solid theatrical experience.
The first single Rebel Saab was released yesterday and opened to a positive response from fans. However, a separate issue surfaced when Maruthi’s promotional comments upset a section of Jr NTR fans, leading to negative trends on social media.
Maruthi responded quickly and said, “First I sincerely apologise to every fan. It was never my intention to hurt or disrespect anyone. Sometimes in the flow of words things come out differently from what we truly mean and I regret that it was received in the wrong way or as a comparison.”
He added, “I have immense respect for NTR garu and for all his fans. I truly value the love you carry for cinema and for your hero. I wanted to clarify this with complete honesty and from the heart, and I hope you understand the situation and the intention behind it.”
The issue began when Maruthi, while praising Prabhas and The Raja Saab, said he would avoid using ‘collar lifting’ as he felt they would not suit Prabhas’ larger-than-life image. The remark was interpreted as a comparison, which led to the backlash.
Maruthi has now clarified his intent, and the team hopes the situation settles so that the focus returns to the song and upcoming promotions.
