Junior, the much-talked-about Kannada-Telugu bilingual starring Sreeleela and Kireeti Reddy in lead roles, is gearing up for its theatrical release tomorrow (July 18). Also starring Genelia Deshmukh and Kannada star Ravichandran, the film is directed by Radha Krishna and produced by Sai Korrapati.
Maverick director Rajamouli was the chief guest at the pre-release event of Junior’s Telugu version last night. During an impromptu Q&A between Rajamouli and the event’s host, Suma, images from all Rajamouli movies were displayed on the giant screen, and Rajamouli described each film in one word. Upon seeing the Eega slide, Rajamouli quickly said, “Eega, my best film.”
Not just Rajamouli, but even millions of movie lovers still rate Eega as the best among all Rajamouli movies. This, even after Rajamouli mesmerized the world with his cinematic magnum opuses like the Baahubali franchise and RRR, speaks volumes about Eega’s legacy.
Eega narrates the story of a happy-go-lucky youngster (Nani) being killed by a baddie (Sudeep) who eyes his girlfriend (Samantha), being reborn as a housefly (Eega), and avenging his death. Produced jointly by Sai Korrapati and D Suresh Babu, the film was released in 2012, and it was a huge success at the box office.
