Small-budget film Balagam, starring Priyadarshi and Kavya Kalyanram as the lead pair, opened in theaters in the first week of March and turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office. Even after completing 20 days, the movie is running successfully in theaters everywhere.
Out of the blue, noted OTT platform Amazon Prime Video announced that the film is available to stream on its platform from today onwards in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. This surprised the film’s lead actor Priyadarshi. Before the announcement, he tweeted “NO! Balagam is not coming to Amazon Prime any time soon. Don’t believe the baseless rumours and have an unparalleled experience of Balagam at your nearest theaters.” Later, he was shocked to learn that the movie made its way to OTT without any prior announcement. Kavya Kalyanram was also unaware of the news.
Directed by comedian Venu Yeldandi, Balagam also stars Muralidhar Goud, Jayaram, Roopa, Racha Ravi, and others in important roles. The content-driven film is produced by Harshith Reddy and Hanshitha Reddy, with Bheems Ceciroleo composing the soundtracks.
