If the ongoing buzz in Kollywood circles is anything to be believed, National Award-winning Tamil star Suriya’s ambitious period drama, Vaadivaasal, has been called off. The film, which was supposed to be helmed by National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran, has been in the making for the past three years.

The latest buzz in Kollywood circles further reveals that Suriya has finally decided to call it quits after Vetrimaaran couldn’t finish the bound script. Suriya was preparing to play the dual role of a father and son in this intense rural drama, which is set against the backdrop of the iconic Tamil traditional bull sport of Jallikattu.

The recent reports suggested that Vaadivaasal will be going on floors in the second half of this year and hit theaters worldwide during the Pongal festive season in January next year. However, the highly anticipated project is rumored to have been shelved, inviting mixed reactions from fans and industrywalas. Big names like music composer GV Prakash Kumar and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu were involved with this prestigious project.
