Suriya’s Retro is slated for release on May 1. The movie, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is a romantic action entertainer and stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead. The film will have a simultaneous release in major Indian languages. In a recent interview, the director revealed that he initially penned the script for Superstar Rajinikanth.
Karthik Subbaraj said, “This story was not written for Thalapathy Vijay sir as being speculated. I wrote this script keeping in mind Thalaivar. Initially, it was more in the action zone to suit Thalaivar’s image. After narrating to Suriya sir, it was changed to a love story. Even Suriya sir asked me if I narrated the script to Rajinikanth sir.”
Backed by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Creations, the film also stars Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj in supporting roles. Santhosh Narayanan composed the tunes. Shriya Saran will be seen in a special song.
