One of the most-awaited Indian films is finally taking shape. This grand cinematic tribute to the mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the mighty Ravana. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, the film aims to reimagine the timeless tale with global standards of storytelling and visual excellence.
A breathtaking first glimpse, over three minutes long, was unveiled both online and in theatres. It begins with a powerful visual portrayal of the divine trinity: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, the cosmic forces that maintain the balance of the universe. As the world begins to fall into chaos, a ray of hope rises in the form of Lord Shri Rama, the protector of dharma.
The glimpse then transitions into a poetic narration of Rama’s virtues, highlighting his compassion, strength, and unwavering sense of justice. These themes are brought to life through visually stunning sequences powered by AI-enhanced VFX. The narrative builds toward the depiction of the legendary battle between Rama and Ravana, offering the first striking visuals of Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as the fearsome Ravana.
Filmed entirely for the IMAX experience, the movie also features Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The screenplay is written by Shridhar Raghavan, and the production is led by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with the eight-time Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG. Yash’s Monster Mind Creations joins as co-producer, adding to the film’s scale and impact.
The music is composed by two legends, Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, who come together to create a powerful and emotional soundtrack for this cinematic journey. Ramayana will be released in two parts. Part One is scheduled for Diwali 2026, followed by Part Two in Diwali 2027. With its spiritual essence, cinematic ambition, and world-class production values, Ramayana: Our Truth Our History is poised to become a milestone in Indian cinema.
