Dhanush’s 50th film, Raayan, opened to positive reviews from critics, and word of mouth is also equally good. The film had an excellent first weekend with over Rs. 70 crores gross at the worldwide box office. The Tamil version is doing fantastic business in all the territories. This action drama was written and directed by Dhanush himself.
On the make-or-break Monday, the film maintained a phenomenal hold by collecting close to Rs. 5 crores gross in Tamil Nadu. The film earned another Rs. 2 crores from the rest of India, taking the worldwide gross to Rs. 83 crores. As per trade analysts, the film will cross the Rs.100 crore gross mark very shortly.
Raayan has a very good chance to earn Rs. 100 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. The four-day total in this region is around Rs. 40 crores. In Telugu states, Raayan has reportedly grossed about Rs. 8 crores. As the Hindi version didn’t have a good release, the numbers are negligible.
Vaathi/Sir and Thiruchitrambalam are the top two grossers of Dhanush, and looking at the current trend, it will be a piece of cake for Raayan to become the biggest earner of Dhanush. SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar played vital roles.
