Pushpa 2: The Rule is doing fantastic business at the box office. The movie stormed past Rs. 400 mark globally in two flat days. However, the performance in two major markets, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, is sending shockwaves. In Tamil Nadu, Pushpa 2 has put up a splendid opening of Rs. 11 crores gross, the highest for any Telugu dubbed film in this region.
On day two, the film held its ground by collecting nearly Rs. 8 crores gross, taking the two-day Tamil Nadu total to Rs. 19 crores. The movie registered a higher opening than the massive multi-starrer RRR and the straight Tamil film Kanguva in Tamil Nadu. The gigantic opening of Pushpa 2 took everyone by surprise as no one saw it coming.
On the other hand, the trend in Kerala is disappointing, to say the least. Allu Arjun possesses a solid following in this state and he promoted the film quite well there. After taking a strong opening, the action drama dropped significantly on Friday. The movie received negative reviews in Kerala, and this led to a drop in collections. The two-day collections are approximately Rs. 9 crores gross.
Today’s Kerala trend is also not good and the prospects aren’t looking bright. The Hindi version is leading from yesterday, while the original version is decent. The high ticket prices are affecting the footfalls, but today the Telugu version saw a good jump which is a positive sign. The overseas collections are stupendous.
