The Hollywood sci-fi comedy Lilo & Stitch has finally made its way to OTT in India. Jio Hotstar has started streaming the film, a global grosser of over $1 billion, in multiple languages.
In a twist, Jio Hotstar’s premiere announcement mentioned English, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada, but left out Telugu, upsetting many. To the surprise of fans, though, the Telugu version appeared when the film finally streamed. It seems Jio Hotstar didn’t want to upset its Telugu subscribers and added the Telugu version, even releasing an official poster to confirm it.
But here comes the shocker: the announced Kannada version didn’t make it to the platform, leaving Kannada audiences disappointed. We’ll have to wait and see what Jio Hotstar has to say about this change.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the live-action film stars Maia Kealoah in the lead role. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Rideback, the movie was a massive box office sensation worldwide.
