Chaiya Chaiya is one of the iconic hits in the careers of A R Rahman, Shah Rukh Khan, Malaika Arora, and choreographer Farah Khan. But not many know that Malaika Arora was not the first choice to do the train song in the Mani Ratnam film, Dil Se.
It was none other than Raveena Tandon who was approached to do the song but she rejected it. As she gave a hit song Shehar Ki Ladki with Sunil Shetty, Raveena did not want to do yet another special song and feared that she would be typecast.
Well, Raveena’s loss was Malaika’s gain and the rest is history. Malaika became a sensation of sorts with that song and even to date is enjoying the success of Chaiya Chaiya.
