Pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s pan-India sci-fi mythological magnum opus, Kalki 2898 AD, released in June 2024 and ended up amassing over Rs 1,180 crore at the global box office. Also starring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan in a crucial role, the film was directed by Nag Ashwin.
Ever since the historic success of Kalki part one, all eyes have been on the film’s sequel. In a latest media interaction while promoting his maiden film, Yevade Subramanyam, ahead of its re-release, director Nag Ashwin revealed several interesting updates about Kalki 2. He surprised everyone by saying that they are planning to commence the movie in December this year.
Addressing the complaints of lesser duration for Prabhas in Kalki part 1, Nag Ashwin said that he explored the backstories of Sumati (Deepika) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh) to set up the world of Karna (Prabhas). “The part two will have more of Prabhas, as it will be majorly centered around the Karna and Ashwatthama characters,” he added.
Kalki 2898 AD also featured the legendary Kollywood actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan in a negative role. Produced by Ashwini Dutt, the film has a soundtrack composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Stay tuned for further updates.
