Kalki 2898 AD, starring pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, was released in June 2024 and ended up collecting nearly Rs 1,050 crore worldwide. The sci-fi mythological thriller was directed by Nag Ashwin.
Following Kalki 2898 AD’s massive success, all eyes have been on the film’s sequel. In the past, Nag Ashwin had announced that the sequel will be going on floors at the end of 2025. Nag Ashwin appeared on a podcast recently and dropped a major update on Kalki 2.
Stating that he hopes to start filming Kalki 2 by 2025 end, Nag Ashwin went on to add that a lot of things are connected to it. “The actors have to come together. Some of the pre-visualized sequences and action sequences are much bigger. So it will take some time. I don’t have an exact answer. Everyone is busy,” he added.
Nag Ashwin went on to say that while the shooting will take some time, the post-production usually takes longer. “Hopefully in another 2 or 3 years, that’s what I think,” he concluded, hinting that fans will have to wait longer to witness the mega spectacle on the big screens.
Kalki 2898 AD also features Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and Tamil stalwart Kamal Haasan in key roles. Santhosh Narayanan had scored an epic soundtrack for this Ashwini Dutt production.
