Back in 2021, soon after a casual meeting between Tollywood star Allu Arjun and Kollywood star director AR Murugadoss, speculations on a possible collaboration went viral in the Telugu and Tamil media circles. However, neither Allu Arjun nor Murugadoss had made an official confirmation regarding their project.
However, Murugadoss has finally given clarity and ended the suspense on his much-talked-about collaboration with Allu Arjun. In an interaction with the Telugu film media in Hyderabad this afternoon, Murugadoss has revealed that he and Allu Arjun had p indeed discussed a project. “But it’s still in an early stage and takes time,” the star director told the media.
Murugadoss and the core team of the soon-to-release Tamil film, August 16, 1947, landed in Hyderabad to promote the film’s Telugu version which is slated for release on April 7. Talking about the movie, Murugadoss, who is presenting the movie, has said he was blown away when he read the script.
“August 16, 1947 is a period film set in a picturesque remote village in Tamil Nadu. India got its independence on August 15, 1947. But a British officer didn’t inform the villagers about India’s independence. The film’s story unfolds on August 14, 15 and 16, 1947. It’s a very special film in my career,” said Murugadoss. Young hero Gautham Karthik is the hero and Pon Kumar is the director of August 16, 1947. Veteran Tollywood producer NV Prasad is releasing the film’s Telugu version.
