With Amaran, Sivakarthikeyan stormed the box office and became one of the bankable stars in Tamil cinema. Madharasi is his next outing and it is directed by AR Murugadoss. The movie is a commercial action thriller with a beautiful love story wrapped inside it. Rukmini Vasanth plays the female lead.

According to Kollywood circles, AR Murugadoss initially wanted to name the film “Hunter.” However, Sivakarthikeyan and the team are said to have let go of the title because Rajinikanth’s and T.J. Gnanavel’s film was named Vettaiyan, which means hunter in Tamil. Sivakarthikeyan and team took this decision out of their respect for Superstar.

AR Murugadoss finally locked the Madharasi title for the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, as the story is about how North Indians view South Indians. Murugadoss mentioned in an interview that Sivakarthikeyan’s character will be unusual and that the film will have a special element, like memory loss in Ghajini and sleeper cells in Thuppakki.

Vidyut Jammwal takes on the role of the antagonist. Produced on a grand scale by N. V. Prasad of Sri Lakshmi Movies, the film’s music is being composed by Anirudh. The shooting is nearing its completion and the release date will be revealed soon.
