Lokah’s producer Dulquer Salmaan initially assumed that the Kalyan Priyadarshan would end up being a loss venture due to its high cost and lack of buyers. Not even Dulquer Salmaan in his wildest dreams would have thought Lokah would emerge as the all-time highest grosser of Malayalam cinema. Yes, you heard it right.
The superhero entertainer, which was released last month, has been having a dream run at the box office. Much to everyone’s surprise, Lokah has now surpassed the worldwide collections of Mohanlal’s much-hyped L2: Empuraan and emerged as the new industry hit of Mollywood. Lokah has till now earned Rs. 270 crores globally.
Lokah is also the first-ever South Indian female-led film to achieve Rs. 100 crores and Rs. 200 crores. The overseas numbers of Lokah are much bigger than the collections in the Indian market. In Kerala, the film is nearing the mighty Rs. 100 crore mark, which was only breached by Thudarum earlier.
Since the start is fantastic, the expectations have now risen significantly for the upcoming films in this superhero franchise. Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah also features Sandy Master and Nalsen in prominent roles. Jakes Bejoy is the music composer.
