Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ latest outing, Kishkindhapuri, is doing the unthinkable at the box office. Since the horror thriller was released alongside the hyped film Mirai, some felt that the former would be affected big time due to the competition. However, Kishkindhapuri is proving naysayers wrong with its impressive box office run.
The day three collections of Kishkindhapuri are bigger than the day two numbers, which itself topped the opening day numbers. This trend isn’t seen very often in Tollywood, and Kishkindhapuri’s unexpected box office performance pretty much sums up the kind of love the movie has been receiving from the audience. Not just Mirai, but Kishkindhapuri has also withstood competition from the latest blockbuster Little Hearts and is on track to emerge as a solid hit.
Made on a budget of Rs. 32 crores, the film recovered the majority of its investment from non-theatrical revenue, which is around Rs. 28 crores. The theatrical rights are valued at Rs. 8 crores, and the movie has already earned Rs. 15 crores gross in its opening weekend. The break-even will be done by today, and the buyers are set to earn handsome profits.
After Rakshashudu, Bellamkonda Sreenivas didn’t have a proper hit. The actor took his time, reinvented himself, and has now made a terrific comeback with strong content. Also, the movie puts producer Sahu Garapati back on the winning track after Laila. That’s not all. The noon and matinee shows on Monday started on a good note, signaling a strong long run.
Anupama Parameswaran played the leading lady. The movie is expected to have a good run till the arrival of OG, and trade pundits predict the movie can earn around Rs. 30 crores gross in its full run. Let’s see if Kishkindhapuri can outperform the estimates.
