Adorable actor Karthi’s Annagaru Vostaru is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release this Friday. Produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja under the prestigious Studio Green banner and directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy, the film is designed as a new-age action-comedy entertainer. Krithi Shetty plays the female lead. In today’s interview, Karthi shared several interesting highlights about the movie.
He said, “The reason I agreed to do Annagaru Vostaru is director Nalan Kumaraswamy. His film Soodhu Kavvum has a cult following. We often think of superheroes as Batman or Superman, but in our culture, legends like NTR and MGR were true superheroes. They transformed cinema and politics. With that thought, Nalan imagined a story that revisits the 80s mass-commercial mania in a fresh way. The film takes place in a fictional world.”
Karthi added, “New types of films emerge only when writers are given complete creative freedom. Otherwise, the industry keeps repeating the same formula. Nalan has presented this film with visuals and music comparable to something like Avengers. It is not a period film. As shown in the trailer, this is a superhero story set in a parallel world.”
Karthi plays a police officer who wears a safari. Unlike his earlier intense police roles, here the cop character is designed in a completely different tone. Karthi also lauded the performance of Krithi Shetty and added that she plays a spirit reader in Annagaru Vostaru.
