Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025: Prabhas, Deepika’s Kalki 2898 AD eyes top honors

Released in June last year, pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s sci-fi mythological magnum opus, Kalki 2898 AD, went on to receive critical acclaim and commercial success. The film has earned close to Rs 1050 crore at the global box office.

Kalki 2898 AD is back in the news. The visual wonder created by Nag Ashwin has secured top nominations at the 16th edition of the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025. Kalki 2898 AD will be locking horns with acclaimed and successful movies such as Homebound, L2: Empuraan, Maharaj, Meiyazhagan, Stree 2, and Superboys of Malegaon for the Best Film Award.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025 will be held from August 14 to 24. The festival celebrates the excellence in the film and OTT shows that were released between June 15, 2024, and June 14, 2025. The film festival is supported by the Victorian Government.

Kalki 2898 AD also features Indian cinema legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in prominent roles. The film is produced by veteran Tollywood filmmaker Ashwini Dutt, and its second part will be going on floors in early 2026.
